A community ultimate frisbee club in Norwich. One session a week, open to anyone, and going since 2005.

One night a week, every week, since 2005
Who actually turns up
We are a community club rather than a university one, so the people on the pitch range from students to players in their forties who have been doing this for two decades. Most weeks somebody is at their first ever session, and most weeks they are in a game within the hour.
Nobody gets sent off to a beginners corner. You learn by being in the game with everyone else, which is slower to start with and much faster in the end.

How training works
One session a week, on a Thursday, all year round. We follow the UK Ultimate calendar and the academic year, so we move outdoors to Eaton Park for the summer and back into the sports hall at the UEA Sportspark when the evenings get dark.
The night never changes. The time, the venue and the cost all do, which is why the training page is the one worth checking before you set off.
Every session runs the same way. A warm-up, a coached block on throwing or tactics, then games for the rest of the night.
Nobody is refereeing
Ultimate is self-refereed at every level of the sport, right up to internationals. Players call their own fouls and sort out the disagreements between themselves.
It sounds like it should collapse into chaos and it mostly does not. It is called Spirit of the Game, and it is a large part of why the sport is as welcoming as it is.
Playing beyond training
Nobody has to play competitively, and plenty of people never do. For everyone else, we enter local fun tournaments through the year and take teams to club regionals in the open, mixed and women’s divisions.
Socials get organised through the season as well, which is usually where the club business actually gets discussed.
